Stressing the health importance of maintaining good physical balance, Balance Basics and Beyond features moves designed to help viewers “stay independent longer.” Shot in the strange but interesting location of the Las Vegas Strip (complete with passersby walking in front of the camera), the program is broken down into several parts. Two beginner's classes with an instructor and participants feature marching, lifting, and tapping; a one-on-one segment with Dickman includes rocking on soles, swaying, knee raises and extensions, and ankle and leg circles; and a “boot camp” one-on-one teaches leg swings and knee bends. Also featuring non-instructional viewing-only partner balancing/advanced segments, and a section on modifications (going barefoot, using props such as walking sticks or chairs, letting common sense dictate where you belong in the scale of varying degrees of difficulty), this solid exercise program is recommended. As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
