Childcare Solutions: The Ultimate Checklist should have carried a little disclaimer on the video box explaining that the producer--the National Center of Protection Services--is a for-profit company which does background checks on daycare providers for a fee. The program provides viewers with a handy checklist of things to ask when interviewing prospective child caregivers...and, of course, details how the NCPS can provide the background checks. While the information presented within the tape is sound, viewers may well get the mistaken idea that the NCPS is a non-profit organization, and the fact that the video repeatedly refers viewers to the accompanying booklet for more information should give accessory-anxious librarians pause. Choosing Quality Daycare (VL-7/95) and Selecting Day Care for Your Child (VL-7/90) are better choices. Very optional. (R. Reagan)
