Along with placing a world of information at your fingertips, the Internet also brings you tons of pornography and sometimes even child predators. Experts estimate that 70% of teen Internet users have been inadvertently exposed to inappropriate material (a figure that, frankly, seems low) while surfing the web, and that 75% of all children use the Internet without supervision. The three-volume set Children, the Internet & Pornography is aimed at parents, teachers, and caregivers, and features educators, counselors, child psychologists, and law enforcement officials covering a wide range of topics, including potential warning signs, the psychological effects of porn, how to install parental controls, how to track which web pages a child is visiting, appropriate parental responses, and the importance of being actively involved with children's and students' Internet use. The first two volumes are age-specific, covering The Preschool and Elementary Years and The Adolescent and Teen Years, respectively. The third volume, Child Porn, Molesters and the Internet, specifically focuses on the problems of child pornography, online child predators, and child molesters. All three volumes (also sold separately for $69.95 each) are recommended for public libraries, and the first and third, or second and third for age-appropriate school libraries. Aud: E, I, J, H, P. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
