Advertised in a recent mailing from Quality Paperback Book Club, this guide to diagnosing and treating chronic fatigue syndrome or CFS (also known as chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome or CFIDS) interviews a wide range of naturopathic physicians and authors. Hosted by Gary Null, the straight talking-head presentation intercuts challenging commentary from doctors such as Majid Ali (who likens CFS and environmental illness sufferers to the proverbial canaries in the coal mines--i.e., warning that we are approaching serious toxic overload) and highly speculative, even specious, remarks from New York Native author Neenyah Ostrom (who suggests that CFS and AIDS arise from the same pathogen). Old guidelines, old theories, old treatments (ginger is mentioned for depression; St. John's wort is not) and--as I finally saw during the credits--an old copyright date (1994) make this unsuitable for purchase. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
