Governmental forms being the daunting critters that they are, it's always nice to see someone from the private sector translate bureaucratspeak into everyday English. In this nicely paced and comprehensive overview, elderly viewers will learn step-by-step how to fill out and file a claim form (Form 1490S) for Medicare Part B. Using a simple, and noncondescending framing device, we watch John help his friend Margaret with the 1490S form. Particular attention is given to what the applicant must include in order to have his or her claim promptly processed. In addition, the video has suggestions for where viewers can get more information about both Medicare, and the doctors who participate in the program. Although the production date for the video is 1988, the program was held for release until after December 1989, to await the outcome of pending legislation. The production is accurate as of January 1990. Recommended. (Available from: Long Island Productions, 6787 Snowdon Ave., El Cerrito, CA 94530.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
