Presenting an overview of Peruvian culture, and concentrating on the textile arts, instructor Barbara Rosenthal uses an interdisciplinary approach to this classroom art project showing how Peruvian textile designs can be produced by arranging a series of paper triangles to form animal shapes. She demonstrates step-by-step, cutting triangles of various sizes using a free hand technique, experimenting with different arrangements, applying glue, adding finishing details, and finally giving the work a title. In addition, Rosenthal shows how such designs can be used to decorate everyday objects and encourages the students to think about how the Peruvians of ancient times worked on similar projects. An extremely well rounded, clearly presented program that is sure to expand the horizons of younger students. Highly recommended. Aud: E, I. (J. Reed)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
