Guy Palazzola demonstrates the principles of collage in the first part of this program. Using colored tissue paper, acrylic emulsion, leaves, newspaper, and acrylic paints, Palazzola shows the artistic, and, in the case of collage, often serendipitous, evolution of this primarily twentieth-century art form made popular by Picasso and Brach. In the second part of the tape, Palazzola uses a blown-up photograph of a Pabst Blue Ribbon beer can to show the methods and underlying philosophy of pop art. Explaining that pop art offers an ironical look at contemporary culture, Palazzola briefly discusses the contributions of Jasper Johns, Rauschenberg, and Warhol, as he works. Recommended for art classes and public libraries with extensive art instruction holdings. (Available from: Alymer Press, P.O. Box 2735, Madison, WI 53701).

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
