Aimed at teens and their parents, College Admission. Simplified. is a six-part program featuring interviews with college admission officers, counselors, and financial aid personnel from several different universities, as well as students from a variety of campuses. The interviewees talk about why a bachelor's degree (at least) is needed to be competitive in today's tough job marketplace, the steps involved in choosing a university, and how to increase one's chances of being accepted to a first choice school. Other topics include preparing for college while still in high school, taking college entrance exams, and applying for financial aid. The last segment, “Succeeding in College,” isn't about the importance of showing up for classes, taking notes, or doing research, but instead discusses…uh…dorm room decor, fraternity/sorority life, dating issues, and staying healthy. College Admission. Simplified. features a fair amount of repetition over the course of two hours (both in the interviews and footage of Happy Underclassmen on Campus), but the information is sound and will be appreciated by high school students starting to think about college.
