“Fighterfires [sic] exercise and put on their pants and slide down poles and ride engines to fires!” my toddler said after watching this video. That's a mostly accurate if simplified summation of the live-action sequences taped in cooperation with the Jacksonville and Colorado Springs, CO fire departments in Commander Courage in the Fire Station Adventure, which covers firefighters' physical- and skills-training and family-style living at the station, as well as general fire prevention and safety tips (including information on fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, and the classic admonition to “stop, drop, and roll” set to the “Limbo” tune). The computer-animated Commander Courage, who looks and sounds like Dudley Do-Right, is joined by the three ethnically-diverse “Way Cool Kids” (who have incredibly geeky cartoon voices) in singing and learning segments interspersed with the live action segments. Much better than Amazing Heroes: Spend a Day with Firefighters (VL-1/03), which featured the hammy host more than the heroes, this is highly recommended. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Reagan)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
