This short program is a no-frills guide to what one needs to know in order to pass the pre-trip inspection test for a commercial driver's license. It is the first leg in a series of tests which include a skills test and a road test. This program uses a truck, a driver, an inspector, and voiceover narration to walk viewers through the various steps of the test. Viewers will learn how to prepare their rigs for the test, and what is actually required during the walk-around inspection, cab inspection, engine inspection, and air or hydraulic brake tests. The close-ups are clear, and the narration is unwaveringly to the point (viewers will hear the phrase "check for cracks, breaks, or bubbles" about 50 times). The tape concludes with the admonition to practice and a toll-free number for RoadTester for more information about other materials. Keeping in mind that this is one program in a series, the expense is fairly significant for trade-oriented material that generally falls outside of the public library domain. Purchase according to need. (Available from: RoadTester, Box 391, Manteca, CA 95336.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
