This program highlights costly behavioral mistakes that job-seekers can make during interviews (such as answering a cell phone), while also explaining how to answer common questions. An onscreen host introduces excerpts from a dramatized session in which a male candidate behaves badly and responds poorly; she then shows a female contender fielding the same questions very well. In the illustrative set pieces, interviewees are asked to talk a little about themselves, explain their interest in the position, address their ability to handle pressure on the job, and discuss their weaknesses. Comments from business executives and career counselors help to explain what employers learn by asking about past behavior and job performance (and also relate memorable gaffs). In addition to the interview tips, viewers learn that other factors—such as punctuality and courtesy towards receptionists and staff—can affect the outcome, as can an employer's ability to access the candidate's social media profile. While aimed more toward younger workers, the information here will also be useful to a wide range of job-seekers. Highly recommended. Aud: J, H, C, P. (M. Puffer-Rothenberg)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
