After practicing the methods on this well-done tape (box-title: "Common Sense Self Defense for Women"), ladies should be able to confidently handle a single-hand ass-grab in an elevator, a "menacing" handshake, a hand-on-the-knee from the loser in the chair next to you, and a neck-grab from behind. In fact, these anti-bad-guy methods look so sensible and straightforward, and are so firmly based in physiology, I defy Bluto to assault a woman in any of the ways demonstrated! Szuch presents the four techniques in the same sequence: the attack is acted out, then Szuch brings the man down, shows a class the step-by-step moves to accomplish same, reviews the moves' key elements via text, makes sure the woman can finish the moves in the classroom, then repeats the staged attack with the woman victorious this time around. He finishes with a question-and-answer session (what if you're attacked by a left-handed perp? what if the technique doesn't seem to be working?) and a review of the steps to each formula. Even though the assaults presented are very specific (surely men grab women in places other than their rumps, hands, knees, and necks?), the methods outlined seemed to be very effective. Ball-bustingly recommended. Aud: C, P. (K. Glaser)
