Written and produced by Rick Shaw, an audio recording professional, musician, and veteran of the television industry, Composing With MIDI is the third tape in Media One Production's "The Recording Series." Beginning with the basics of MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface), on-camera host Shaw explains how the system works, gives a tour of the various components and connections in his MIDI system, uses "Vision" software to demonstrate how various instruments are assigned to different components, and then creates a "score" for an action film scene. The program concludes with Shaw's composing of a musical track for the computer-generated Media One Productions logo, shown virtually step-by-step in a fascinating sequence. Highly recommended for those libraries which have aspiring musicians in their communities. The first two tapes in the series are: Basic Multitrack Recording and Using the MIDiiZER. All three are available for the special package price of $79.85. (Available from: Media One Productions, P.O. Box 767999, Roswell, GA 30076.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
