The reference interview has been described as one of the most complex communication activities imaginable, since the information seeker often finds it hard to describe what he or she wants. Conducting the Reference Interview is designed to help reference librarians facilitate that process, offering suggestions on creating an inviting atmosphere, effectively using body language, interpreting the request, clearly providing the needed information (and accurately citing sources), and concluding with follow-up questions. Presenting scenarios demonstrating both good and bad practices---with accompanying analysis--the program covers walk-in, telephone, and online reference services. A terrific training tool for all types of libraries, this is highly recommended. Aud: E, I, J, H, C, P. (L. Stevens)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
