Game enthusiast and instructor Dale N. LeFevre introduces a dozen games aimed at elementary school children, with a few adapted for high school use. Games such as "In the Manner of the Adverb" (a kind of grammatical charade game) or "Make 11" (where, using a scissors, paper, rock model, groups of three try to get their fingers to add up to "11") are not only fun, they also reinforce basic English and math skills, as well as require cooperation. Although the video is heavily edited (a couple of times, you'll begin to hear a kid complain "hey...wait a minute..." before he's abruptly cut off), it still has a rambling home video feel (there are no graphics, no special effects, no slo-mo-just straight-ahead occasionally choppily-edited footage of LeFevre and the kids). Still, elementary school teachers, in particular, might want to watch for good game ideas, or simply purchase one of LeFevre's related books. Optional. Aud: E, I, J, H, P. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
