Following the trials and tribulations of six families with newborns at ages 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months, Creative Parenting covers a range of subjects, from initial bonding to the beginnings of independence. Developed by Dr. Jeffrey Marsh, who is seen moderating a father support group session, and hosted by actor Beau Bridges, the program delivers a fair amount of solid information on the topics of post-partum depression, necessary items for the medicine cabinet, baby-proofing the house, separation anxiety, the introduction of solid foods, etc. But much of the program is also very general, with Bridges saying 'nice' things about babies, and obviously reading directly from cue cards. Our only real quibble with the information given, however, is the idea of making a "game" out of the warning given to a one-year old not to play near the road. Other than that, we can recommend this as a supportive tape for new parents. Creative Parenting also won a Film Advisory Board award for excellence. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
