When I grabbed this DVD off the shelf to review, my first thought was that combining cycling and yoga seemed like a big bowl of wrong. Well, I was wrong. You don't do a sun salutation on the bike, but rather on a yoga mat in front of a stationary bike as part of the warm-up and cool-down segments bookending one heckuva cycling adventure. Backed by music from bands such as the Fighting Idols and Slotmachine (both sound like speed metal), energetic instructor Curt Dalton leads a class of stationary bikers through their paces, while talking about family stress, food, loser bosses, self-judgment, and negative and positive feelings. The program contains two separate hour-long workouts: “Fire,” which has a buns-to-the-saddle intensity, with riders constantly adjusting the bike for speed and uphill climbs, and “Ice,” geared more towards endurance at a somewhat slower pace. Offering holistic fitness buffs a new spin on bringing the mind, body, and spirit together, this is highly recommended. Aud: P. (N. Plympton)
