Get out your Hawaiian shirt and hang on tight, because Retro Bill is about to take you on one heck of a safety tip ride! I have to admit, I was wary of this video with its cover photos of a crazy Technicolor host and promises to “skillfully edutain” me, but I was happily surprised. In segments lasting from 2-4 minutes, Retro Bill addresses a number of safety questions, ranging from “how can you tell what is safe to touch, taste, smell, or eat?” to “why shouldn't you take gifts or rides from strangers?” Eschewing both the fear/shock approach and stern lectures (no thundering on the evils of guns and drugs here), D.A.R.E. Safety Tips serves up very practical information in consistently creative, eye-popping, and hilarious ways. Camerawork, editing, and sound effects are outstanding; details such as wardrobe, props, and location are first-rate; and the price is super-affordable. A second volume is also available for the same price (or both together for $21.98). Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. Aud: E, I, J, P. (E. Gieschen)
