One of two titles in the Bonding with Baby Through Exercise series (the other is Baby Reps! Postnatal Workout), Dance-Baby-Dance! is a good, safe workout that's also a lot of fun, featuring imaginative, challenging, and funky dance moves and adorable babies. Fitness professional Rachel Van Castle offers demonstrations of each dance routine (in a nice touch, those already familiar with the routines have the option of turning off the cue cards and voiceovers that signal upcoming dance patterns), but the actual dance routines are performed not by fit and trim Rachel, but real moms in regular clothes (some fit, some not quite so fit) holding real babies and dancing together through real rooms (living rooms, nurseries, etc.) in a real house. The music runs the gamut, including world music, big band, Motown, and blues, and the six routines feature both general dance movements (the bob, side-tap, front kicks) and more advanced moves (the “shimmy,” the grapevine, and an Elvis-inspired hip-twisting thang called “the king”). By the end, viewers will have sweated off some calories, learned some solid dance moves, and had lots of fun with their babies. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (A. Cantú)
