This short program on peer pressure opens with a surly student named Mark ignoring his teacher's advice and dropping out of school. Flashing forward to a year later, Mark returns to the school to finish his education, after he is unable to get a decent job. Meeting a couple of his old classmates in the cafeteria, Mark tells them how "going along with the crowd" during his senior year, has left him going nowhere fast. The trio discuss the importance of retaining individuality even while maintaining good friendships. Sex, alcohol, and truancy are a few of the practical situations that are examined, as well as how to deal with the fear of rejection. Overall, the material is presented in a way that teenagers can identify with (except for the occasional lapse into absurd language, as in learn how to "terminate the conversation".) An accompanying book, Coping Through Friendship by Sharon Carter, is not related to the video. Recommended. (See BABYSITTING THE RESPONSIBLE WAY for availability.)
