Instructor Debra Mazda, who went from 300-plus pounds 20 years ago to a current size 12 through exercising, tells viewers that “you are worth it…now is the time” in this step-cardio workout program. Designed for beginners, Let's Get Stepping includes a tutorial on the moves, an explanation of Mazda's “intensity fitness scale,” and various approaches to her workout (the “Shapely Girl” team of workout buddies—who indeed refreshingly embody different forms of the term “shapely”—demonstrate various options such as not using a riser for the step, using an extra riser, or omitting the arms segments). Mazda's routine features a warm-up, tap changes, knee lifts, clapping, grapevines, bicep curls, and a cool-down. Backed by high-energy music, Let's Get Stepping also features a bonus toning segment with push-ups, sit-ups, and hand weights, as well as a “Circle Time” discussion in which the instructors discuss body image, nutrition, and self-esteem. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams Wood)
