This classroom-edition DVD combines two of Disney's bestselling safety videos, Bike Safety with Bill Nye the Science Guy, and I'm No Fool on Wheels. The first title, geared towards older kids, features the high-energy, crazy-cool Science Guy presenting a primer on bicycle safety and smarts (the program assumes that most bikers will be sharing the road with motor traffic, since an underlying theme is the relationship between cars and bicycles). Featuring interviews with regular bikers on safety topics such as signaling, bike maintenance checks, and night riding, the video also has Nye driving home the main point to always wear a bike helmet. The second show, which will appeal to younger children, transports a live-action version of the character Pinocchio to a park, where he meets two new friends, Chris and Jennifer, and--with their help--learns not only how to roller skate, skateboard, and ride a bicycle, but how to do all of these activities safely. Both programs do a good, age-appropriate job of reminding kids to remember basic safety while still having fun. Recommended. [Note: Disney's Safety Hits, Volume 2 is also available, featuring Winnie the Pooh's Great School Bus Adventure and Too Smart for Strangers.] Aud: K, E, I, P. (E. Gieschen)
