Nope, Do the Hustle isn't the latest theme song from Wall Street. It's an instructional dance video aimed at beginning and intermediate students who want to learn this once popular disco dance. Instructors Ron and Bethana Rosario break the hustle down into its component parts--the Check & Throw, Crossbody Lead, Whip, etc.--but while their hearts (and feet) are in the right place, they're clearly uncomfortable in front of the camera. Plunging into the instruction without much preliminary explanation, the Rosarios aren't entirely clear when explaining specific moves, and while intermediate students might not have much trouble assimilating the material, beginners would likely be lost very quickly. Beginners and intermediate level dancers are liable to grow weary of the constant replaying of "Midnight Love Affair" throughout the tape, and the single-camera staging of the action on a reddish-purple set leaves something to be desired (imagine disco on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise in the original Star Trek, and you have an idea of the garish color scheme). Not a necessary purchase. Aud: P. (S. Fisher)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
