Betty Bender, a business consultant, is the on-camera lecturer for this three-part series of stand alone programs dealing with basic management techniques designed to increase employee retention. In Don't Keep It To Yourself, Bender emphasizes the importance of sharing information--from giving an accurate and comprehensive job description to new employees to tactful ways to handle "performance feedback" between managers and employees. More Than Just a Pat on the Back discusses the changing workplace and differing needs of today's employees, and exhorts managers to "understand the values of your employees," while offering fair rewards and signs of appreciation for their successes. The last program, We Support What We Help Create focuses on the importance of including employees in the decision making process and outlines the basic rules of delegation. While the series offers no new startling insights, these programs would serve as a good refresher course for managers, and are significantly less expensive than similar titles on the market.
