Statistically, in America, a teenager dies every hour in a drunk-driving related car crash; more than enough reason to ensure that kids are fully aware of the dangers associated with driving under the influence. Opening with an explanation of DUI laws, Drinking and Driving details the physical effects of alcohol consumption, examines the consequences of driving drunk, and suggests ways to handle the inevitable peer pressure. Debunking myths about how to get instantly sober, and emphasizing that drunk driving accidents are "100% preventable," the information contained here is solid, but the presentation is--unfortunately--lackluster. Most of the visuals are of various teens swigging beer as they drive the family car, or footage of highway patrol drunk driving arrests, and the dramatizations are either unconvincing or way over-the-top. It's also important to note that the entirely different subject of underage drinking is not addressed at all here, just underage drunk driving. A better choice would be DUI: Dead in 5 Seconds (VL-1/01). Optional. Aud: J, H. (E. Gieschen)
