Offering an excellent blend of travel and RV advice, Eastern Canada by RV has a straight-talking “down home” feel that's likely to charm viewers, whether novice or expert RV drivers, or even armchair travelers. Bob and Judy Howen, a retirement-aged couple, offer frank, personal recommendations concerning what to see and do when visiting Eastern Canada, freely sharing their fears (e.g., will they be able to read the traffic signs in French-speaking Quebec?) and navigational mistakes, and in the process making the trip across the U.S./Canada border (particularly since 9/11) seem not only possible, but desirable. Visiting five provinces in 47 days, the Howens present sights from Quebec, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick, among other destinations, using a combination of video footage and still photography (in some sections, the pictures present the travelogue with only appropriate background music for atmosphere). Although some of the sections are a little dated (cost of gas and exchange rate), these are variables that literally change daily. What's important is that this tape addresses many of the real concerns that a new RV traveler to Canada will have (such as how to convert the cost per kilo of gas into the cost per gallon). Also available for the same price is the Howens' Summer in the Parks…the Rockies by RV. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (K. Sullivan)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
