Writing reviews for Video Librarian over the past six years has reinforced my conviction that I am completely unable to perform simple manly chores around the house. Watching wallpaper videos was, for me, akin to viewing the music video oeuvre of Eminem--absolutely alien--and now this program on working with toilets and tanks that don't flush, won't fill up, overflow, etc., has convinced me that paying a plumber is my penalty for being mechanically challenged. That confession aside, let me recommend this video to those manly men (or womanly women) who fearlessly tackle these Herculean tasks and live to laugh about it over a beer with their buddies. Divided into three sections, the program instructs viewers on how to fix various tank-related problems, replace the flush valve assembly, and rip out the old throne to install a new user-friendly, water-conserving model. The narrator spoke in words that even I could understand and competently demonstrated all of the actions necessary to complete the tasks...even to the point of making them look suspiciously easy. At $14.95, this would make a valuable addition to most public library collections, especially considering the prices that plumbers charge folks like me. Recommended. Aud: P. (J. Carlson)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
