Instructor Ellen Barrett presents a series of floor exercises in this deceptively low-key routine that is actually more difficult than it appears. With an upbeat soundtrack and no accessories other than a mat, Barrett works in an airy studio with two assistants, one of whom demonstrates easier versions of the moves. Most of the Pilates, yoga, and ballet-inspired sequences are performed in a seated or kneeling position. An introduction offers an overview of how to approach breathing and movements, which as demonstrated here seem to be graceful, easygoing maneuvers that are smooth and fluid, but truly require a great deal of strength, particularly for the various body and leg lifts. These more demanding positions are bookended with less rigorous stretches and rocking exercises designed to loosen and relax the body. Overall, this presentation is a good mid-level exercise program. Recommended. [Note: also newly available in the Ellen Barrett Live series are Sleek Sculpt Express and Super Fast Body Blast!] Aud: P. (K. Cruver)
