Though beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, the popular media has defined and perpetuated the Barbie-doll mentality of beauty with such religious fervor, we no longer see beyond the myth. Having said that, if consumers want a grocery list of cosmetic enhancements available, recovery time for each operation (though complications to these procedures are somewhat glossed over by physician interviewees), as well as somewhat vague price estimates, this video is most definitely for them. Viewers will see (quite graphically) liposuction to remove fat from the thighs and buttocks of a women, breast enlargement on a mammary gland-challenged soul, and--among other nips, tucks and hair removal procedures--an older female getting the ‘works' (laser resurfacing, cheek lift, eye job, fat transfer, neck tightening and liposuction). Oh yeah, and one token male gets some funny little mole thingies removed from his chest with a laser-like crystal instrument. If Every Woman's and Man's Guide...sounds as lopsided as a bad boob job, it's because--regardless of the title--this video is exclusively for women who are electing to be sliced, diced, burned, peeled, vacuum sucked or implanted all in the name of beauty. Sure to be popular because, sadly, there's a little bit of Barbie in each of us screaming to get out. Recommended for general collections. Aud: P. (N. Plympton)
