ABC's Extreme Makeover series begets this workout program featuring TV host (and Dr. Phil's personal trainer) Robert Reams and (the box says) "Real Women From the Hit Show Who Lost a Combined Total of 75 lbs. From Diet and Exercise Alone” (encouraging, since this rules out the possibility that they lost a Total of 75 lbs. By Cutting Off a Limb). On a beautiful beach in Maui, Reams works individually with our lovely, outgoing (duh!) contestants (La Paula!, Belen!) on easy-to-follow exercises targeting specific problem areas of the body. Kudos for the smart use of the DVD format: chapter selection is broken down into the days of the week, with the roughly 40-minute segments drawing on nine different exercise plans, including cardio and toning work with the upper body, thighs, hips, butt, and abs. For flexibility, the program also includes a shorter "time crunch workout," as well as the option to customize your own plan by selecting the cardio, toning, and cool down exercises that fit your specific needs. In addition, onscreen fitness icons offer additional instruction and helpful modifications, while optional text pop-ups offer motivation and information while you exercise. DVD extras include a short style/fashion segment with celebrity stylist Jeanne Yang, and a booklet containing information on grocery shopping, cooking, dining out, and useful wardrobe tips.
