Here's the pitch: If you smile, people will like you more than if you frown or have a neutral face. Now, there's stunning news. According to communications consultant Arch Lustberg, “likeability is the key to winning” over an audience. In this brief program, Lustberg, who is a very effective presenter, illustrates his main points with footage of George W. Bush and Al Gore during the presidential debates (neither man smiled much and, thus, neither really won over the electorate). Ultimately, however, $75 is a bit steep for a 15-minute tape that tells you to smile, and libraries would be much better served by the more comprehensive Perfecting Presentations (VL-1/93), in which Lustberg covers the same ground as he does here and much more. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
