My sense of fashion doesn't exactly lend itself to smooth chic. In fact, wearing lace ruffled socks with black combat boots is my idea of accessorizing. Does anybody remember hot-pants? Let's not even go there! The last thing I'd want to be is the ‘Before and After' model in a program dedicated to pointing out the do's and don'ts of bad wardrobing--I mean serious fashion faux pas here--and though I privately do my own damage control on a regular basis, you've got to hand it to the ladies in Fashion Fix for going public with some very valuable tips and embarrassing no-no's. Mary Vandiver is the on camera host (a plus-sized model, fashion instructor and buyer for Macy's) in this winning program on fashion tips for the larger lady. A typical sequence features 1) a woman wearing a blue striped (big awning striped) tank top and white stretch pants, 2) our hostess sweetly pointing out "this is a perfect example of inappropriate fashion," 3) details as to what is wrong with the ensemble and suggestions to make it right, and 4) a final shot of the same model looking pounds slimmer in an outfit more flattering to the "large palette" woman. Nicely paced and organized into casual, business and special occasion segments, this video is really a great way to discover color combinations, different styles, and accessories that will create a look that is Suddenly Slimmer. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (N. Plympton)
