Divided into two short segments--“Children” and “Parents & Teachers”--First Communion uses baptism as a springboard for a review of various sacraments (as well as an explanation of the liturgy of the Eucharist) in preparation for an actual first communion featuring a diverse congregation (including a handicapped person in a prominent liturgical role). The second segment shows adults how to reinforce the material presented in the first part by offering realistic, family-oriented activities such as making the sign of the cross, lighting candles, and even baking bread. Well-organized and up-to-date (baptism by immersion is portrayed as a choice), this short program is an effective aid in helping prepare families for a milestone experience. Recommended. Aud: E, P. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
