Fit Kids opens with a problem endemic to exercise videos: more camera than body movement (which makes it hard to follow the exercises). Fortunately, these exercises--aimed at parents and their children aged 3 mos. to 5 years--are really simple. Patricia Demasi, the host and instructor for the session guides a roomful of dads, moms and kids through a half-hour workout which is not terribly challenging to parents but will provide quality time with the kids. What makes Fit Kids a shade different from other mommy ‘n me workouts is that Demasi works in fun activities (such as putting "eggs in a basket" or "fast feet") rather than barking at a 2-year-old, "c'mon work those abs!" In addition, the soundtrack features 10 original songs written by Cathy Francis of Little Big Band. Slated to become a PBS series in spring of 1999 (with added segments on nutrition, education and holistic health), Fit Kids is a worthwhile addition to the fitness collection. Recommended. Aud: P. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
