The Fodor's video guide is divided into three parts: 1) "Fodor's Video World", a nicely photographed, narrated trip through the sights and sounds of Mexico, including Mexico City, Cuernavaca, Taxco, the Pacific resorts (one of which is Acapulco where we stay for about 30 seconds), the inland colonial cities, Chiapas, Yucatan, Puerto Escondido, and Oaxaca; 2) "Fodor's Travel Tips", general information about money, packing, and the advantages and disadvantages of travel packages; and 3) "Fodor's Video Guide", a guide to accommodations. While the first part of the tape is both entertaining and helpful, the rest has serious problems. Part 2 is an irritating advertisement for VISA, and Part 3 uses old slides to show hotels; or worse, a waterfall backdrop on which two or three hotel names in a row are superimposed. This last problem is somewhat offset by the inclusion of a 40-page booklet which gives time-coded listings for the hotels being shown (or not shown), and includes more information about no. of rooms, price, etc. Less than it should be, the professional ism of the first part is still worthy enough to recommend this tape. Other titles in the Fodor line are: Hawaii and Great Britain. (Available from most distributors).

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
