If the initial volume of this rather ambitious 30-volume video set, entitled Geometry: The Complete Course, is any indication, then by the time the viewer gets to The Logic of Constructions Through Applied Theorems (Volume 26), that title will actually make sense. Host Jim Noggle, an award-winning math teacher, relies mostly on his blackboard and a flip chart in this no-frills, well-paced introduction. Terms are defined upon initial use; new concepts are presented in a logical, consistent manner; and Noggle emphasizes the relationships between the real, three-dimensional world and the conceptual two-dimensional representations in geometry, as well as the connections between geometric principles. Sure, this is essentially 30 minutes of old-fashioned math on a blackboard with an enthusiastic talking head--but it's a thorough and effective presentation. Recommended (especially for adult education or teacher "brush-up"). Aud: H, C, P. (E. Gieschen)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
