From the creators of the highly-rated Arithmetic modular series for elementary-level math (VL-7/09), this entry in the similarly excellent seven-part Fundamental Mathematics series for middle-school students explores basic operations relating to fractions and decimals through the use of fun animation, informative onscreen graphics, and clever sound effects. Hosted by a multicultural group of energetic teens, this fast-paced and often humorous program teaches students how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals. Some of the concepts involved are potentially confusing (such as non-terminating, non-repeating decimals), but the logical progression of ideas presented here effectively illustrates how the relevant math actually works. Accompanying curriculum material includes a digital workbook, teacher's guides, classroom notes, quizzes, games, and discussion questions. The other titles in the series are: Beyond Multiplication & Division; Measurements, Ratios, & Percents; Angles, Polygons & Circles; Coordinate Geometry; Gathering & Understanding Data; and Problem-Solving Skills. Highly recommended. Aud: I, J, P. (E. Gieschen)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards.
