Global warming is certainly a hot (no pun intended) current issue, as evidenced by the turnout for the United Nations summit held in Kyoto last year. Major world leaders, including Vice-President Gore, signed agreements to take specific actions to minimize environmental choices that might lead to global warming. However, global warming is itself controversial--many experts do not believe that it will happen. This video explores the widely differing opinions of the scientific community through interviews with nine environmentalists and scientists from a variety of backgrounds. Unfortunately, that's all it does: the program is basically a series of talking heads, with occasional shaky/jerky footage of trees or people inserted for no discernible reason. Too, the accompanying booklet isn't about global warming, it's an elementary overview on climatology. Very optional. Aud: H, C, P. (E. Gieschen)
