For those of us who can't tell a niblick from a nine iron or a wedge from a wedgie, the aptly-titled Golf for Dummies, adapted from the book of the same name in the popular series, will be a boon. Hosted by professional golfer Gary McCord, who has a wonderful rapport with the camera, this smart and funny “how-to” employs the familiar icons known to readers (“Tips,” “Myth Busters,” and “Jargon Alerts”) while covering a wide range of topics that include: equipment selection, stance, grip, swing, various tricky shots (chip, pitch, sand) and flubs (hooks, slices, and shanks), and pointers for one's short game (i.e., putting). In addition, McCord shares his "Ten Commandments” that every golfer should follow. DVD extras include a “golfspeak” glossary, on the green do's and don'ts, and a guide to common faults and how to “fix ‘em.” Although aimed primarily at beginners, duffers at various skill levels will also enjoy this excellent program. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. Aud: P. (J. Carlson)
