In Ground Rules: Volume 1.0—Easy to Med, two-time X-Games medalist Matt Wilhelm teaches viewers BMX bike stunts, using the time-honored technique of slow-motion, while also adding onscreen drawing (commonly seen during instant replays on professional sports broadcasts) to help teach some of the more non-intuitive aspects of flatland tricks. From beginner to intermediate, each of the 56 BMX stunts depicted here are categorized with ratings broken down into difficulty, speed, stamina, and heart (i.e., the level of commitment the rider will need to learn it). The most basic trick here is known as the endo (essentially braking hard on the front wheel and shifting weight so that the rider tilts forward on the front wheel, just short of flipping over!), which should give you an idea of some of the mind-blowing displays of balance, agility, and bravado featured in this detailed “how-to” that is sure to be popular with teens. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
