I had high hopes for this tape, which is meant for high school athletes about to be recruited for college teams (an admittedly small, particular market; perhaps even untapped, video-wise). Hosted by Bill Osborn and featuring sports personnel such as Billy Davis, Carolyn Peck, Cam Cameron, and Ray McCallum, this nicely-produced program covers logical topics (academics and education, eligibility and the NCAA clearinghouse, the recruiting process, who/where to go to for advice, financial aid and scholarship offers, national letters of intent and signing periods, what coaches desire in student athletes, and other topics), but simply doesn't provide enough information. I was particularly puzzled by the sections on the recruiting process and signing periods: when are these? (Somebody refers to "that November period," but what does that mean?) We do learn that each sport has different timeframes and deadlines, but not when they are. Not to beat my disappointment into the ground (or is it too late for that?), I give this tape an "A" for originality, a "B" for execution, and--unfortunately--a "C-" for information. Optional. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
