Using techniques applicable for all machines, Susan Guagliumi shows viewers how to add a little flair to their machine-knit creations. Citing the problem of uniform application of stitches when using a knitting machine (and the time consuming alternative of hand knitting certain areas), Guagliumi demonstrates how the two methods can be combined to reduce time and still produce beautiful patterns in sweaters and other knitting work. Included are techniques for enlarging stitches through bridging, creating twisted stitches forming diamond and basketweave patterns, woven stitches in the form of Chinese knots, as well as fashioning popcorns, fish scales, and giant cables. Well-paced and professionally produced, this program is highly recommended for libraries with larger sewing collections. (See BASIC STAIRBUILDING WITH SCOTT SCHUTTNER for availability.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
