Promoted as "a journey celebrating music, dance, friendships," this is a highly personal and emotional take on the creative process, delivered by choreographer/teacher Carmel Kirtland. The program opens with a sequence featuring children dancing, as Kirtland recalls her early love of dance and gives us a brief biographical review of her days as a performer, dance company founder and teacher. She has molded the careers of two dancers, Cubie Burke and Dawn Rose, seen performing to the New Age music of Scott Cossu (whose remarkable career has rebounded from a devastating accident where he sustained brain injuries resulting in amnesia and paralysis). Dance is seen as a healing element of the human experience and its place in building values and human relationships is emphasized. The program concludes with a dance sequence "Healing Spirit," which was created by Ms. Kirtland. A bit too narrowly focused on the New Age aesthetic, this is an optional purchase. Aud: C, P. (J. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
