Aimed at helping to ease the aches and pains from bad backs, stiff necks, arthritis, and injury or illness, Healing Yoga for Aches & Pains, presented by Charles and Lisa Matkin, serves up a series of stretches and moves designed to aid viewers in "working with their pain" to increase range of motion and relieve tension. Using a tag team approach, one of the instructors demonstrates onscreen while the other uses voiceover to guide viewers during each of the three segments: breathing and stretching exercises (such as the seated twist) all using a chair; simple standing postures (such as a modified "downward dog" pose and various low lunges); and, finally, a guided relaxation while lying on the floor. A solid program that teaches viewers the art of pain management though simple, gentle movement, while also encouraging a holistic mind/body approach to overall health and well-being, this is recommended. The DVD edition includes a segment index and an audio option for instruction only. Also available at the same prices: Healing Yoga for Common Conditions. Aud: P. (N. Plympton)
