Throughout the ages, human beings have shared a common sense of wonder at the story of the universe, no matter what the age or culture. Ancient civilizations gathered in caves to discuss the meaning of the universe. But over time, a dichotomy of religion (moral truths) and science (secular matters) developed, and man's place in relation to the universe was inadequately addressed by either. Today, our "cave" is the living room where children absorb the "sermons" of television advertisements, and our role is that of the consumer, destroying the world around us to produce more and more. Cosmology, by exploring the origin and structure of the universe, enhances the contributions of science and religion, leading us to an awareness that could affect both our own personal well being and the fate of our world. Using a lecture format, cosmologist Dr. Brian Schwimme provides insights into modern physics as he helps us to understand the glory of the universe and how we can experience it in our own lives. Heeding his message offers us a chance to reassess our values, and pass along a legacy of expanded appreciation for life. Highly recommended. Aud: C, P. (J. Reed)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
