Professional ballplayers Mike and Rich Aldrete host this instructional seminar featuring slugger Matt Williams. Following a brief introduction, Williams steps up to the plate, so to speak, and demonstrates to viewers the mechanics of hitting (batting stance, grip, stride, swing, follow through), the benefits of using a batting tee for practice, the proper methods for bunting, batting practice (hitting inside and outside pitches; and placing the ball), and techniques for power hitting. The program concludes with the Aldrete's interviewing Williams about his career and plans for the future. The production qualities are fair, with good close-up instruction, but the ending interview includes some background noise (apparently, a race track is nearby). Still, young players will learn a great deal from Williams. Highly recommended. A projected five-tape series, the second and third titles, Infielding With Harold Reynolds and Outfielding With Gary Pettis are also available at the same price.
