The first volume in the three-part "Practical Guide to Modeling" series, this program features both models and agents discussing the ropes of breaking into modeling. Topics include: getting an agent, developing your career, Europe and other markets, and the role of the modeling agency. Interviewees talk about the different focus of today's modeling (the pencil-thin look giving way to the athletic look, etc.) and what viewers interested in modeling can expect from a modeling career. Technically, the program has a few problems: 1) the annoying and repetitive musical track, 2) the occasionally fuzzy audio (one main interviewee buried her lavaliere mike and rustles like crazy), and 3) the questionable SuperShots photography ad--which is not labeled as an ad, and not clearly separated from the editorial content. The other two programs in the series are: Preparing For Pictures and Designing Your Portfolio. The cost for all three programs is $79.95. An optional purchase (we've yet to see a really good, comprehensive program on this subject). (Available from: Cambridge Career Products, P.O. Box 2153, Charleston, WV 25328; (800) 468-4227, (304) 744-9323.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
