With a small investment at the local crafts shop and a visit to the Salvation Army store, viewers can pretty easily (and cheaply) come by the materials necessary to build a life-size Father Christmas. From the makers of How to Create Victorian Paper Scrap Art and How to Create Your Own Fantasy Carousel House (reviewed in our September 1992 issue), this program offers the same straightforward step-by-step guidance. Viewers are shown how to make a simple wood body frame on which to hang their garments from Sally's, told how to create the head (a styrofoam head wig holder combined with a Barbara Bush Halloween mask and a beard makes a very authentic looking Santa), and given suggestions for making Santa's hair and hat. At the end of the tape, viewers are shown how to adapt the basic ideas to make a 4th of July Santa (I'm not sure I understand the logic on this one) and a great looking Grim Reaper for Halloween. Recommended. (Available from: Rocky Mountain Handicrafts, P.O. Box 121, 935 North Grand Ave., Provo, UT 94603; (801) 373-7665.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
