Proving that there is no subject on Earth so esoteric that an aerobics video cannot somehow be tied to it, Cathe Friedrich's How to Get in Shape for Your Wedding offers a solid aerobics step workout and set of muscle conditioning exercises (good for showing off those marbled pecs if you're wearing a sleeveless gown) for brides-to-be who want to worry about an extra inch around the waistline instead of whether the groom will actually arrive at the church on time. Every so often, a video clip from Friedrich's own recent wedding is inserted (including a not-so-charming shot of her husband ramming cake into her face). While the meat of the program is the exercises and these will appeal to aerobics fans who are tired of hearing "you got it" (Friedrich's pet phrase is "oh yeah"), the angle is gimmicky and the tacked on commercial ending is downright obnoxious. Carol Semple (Ms. Fitness U.S.A cum saleswoman) hawks a product called MET-Rx (a costly powdered drink) for nearly 5 minutes. The actual info is skimpy, but Ms. Semple does mention MET-Rx no less than 31 times (I counted). A very optional purchase. Other programs featuring Friedrich (minus the gimmick and the salespitch) are Step Heat and Step Jam. Aud: P.

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
