While this video is geared for parents of children with Attention Deficit Disorder/Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD), it's full of helpful suggestions for any parent trying to get a child to do homework. While many suggestions seem obvious (have a quiet place for the child to study; be available to help but don't do the work for her; ask to see the homework assignments each and every day), there are many parents who don't think to ask or who don't know that they are supposed to give this kind of guidance. There are many videotapes on the subject already available, but this one would also be a worthy addition to a public library collection, as it is hosted by Sandra Rief, a nationally-known educator on ADHD. A nice bonus is the use of multi-ethnic families who illustrate Rief's points. Recommended for public libraries and agencies which offer parenting classes. Aud: H, C, P. (R. Reagan)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
